Athletic Training
Eric Sauers, Ph.D., ATC, CSCS

Dr. Sauers, a BOC certified and static licensed athletic trainer, is Chair of the Department of Interdisciplinary Health Sciences at the Arizona School of Health Sciences (ASHS), A. T. Still University (ATSU), in Mesa, Arizona. Dr. Sauers maintains his faculty appointment as an associate professor in the ATSU Post-Professional Athletic Training Program where he continues to teach courses and advise masters theses. Dr. Sauers served as the Athletic Training Program Director from 200-2009. He received his bachelor's degree in exercise science from Seattle Pacific University and his masters of science degree in sports health care as a member of the first graduating class of the ATSU Arizona School of Health Sciences. He completed his doctor of philosophy degree in human performance at Oregon State University (OSU), majoring in sports medicine with a minor in adult/university education. He has served in a variety of athletic training positions, including the head athletic trainer at Deer Valley High School, staff athletic trainer at OSU Student Health Services, and coordinator of clinical athletic training in the Department of Recreational Sports at OSU. His primary research interests are related to examination and rehabilitation of the athletic shoulder with specific interests in throwing shoulder mobility assessment, shoulder outcomes assessment, and the effectiveness of interventions for treating shoulder dysfunction and improving patients health-related quality of life. Dr. Sauers has published peer-reviewed scientific articles related to the athletic shoulder. He has given numerous state, regional, and national presentations on topics related to the evaluation and rehabilitation of the athletic shoulder and has served as a research consultant to the Chicago Cubs baseball organization. He has twice served as a co-discussant for the NATA Shoulder Special Interest Group forum and received the 2006 ASHS Scholar of the Year Award. He is an active member of the American Society of Shoulder and Elbow Therapists where he currently serves on the Research Committee. Dr. Sauers is the Associate Editor for Clinical Outcomes for the Journal of Sport Rehabilitation and an Editorial Board member for the Journal of Athletic Training and the Athletic Training Education Journal. Currently, he serves as the Chair of the NATA Post-Professional Education Committee and as a member of the NATA Strategic Implementation Team, Education Council Executive Committee, and the NATA Foundation Research Committee.

Audiology
Tabitha Parent Buck, Au.D.

Dr. Buck was appointed as chair of the Department of Audiology in July 1999 and holds an associate professorship in the department. Dr. Parent-Buck obtained her B.S. and M.S. degrees in audiology from Purdue University and her Doctor of Audiology degree from Baylor College of Medicine. She has practiced in a variety of clinical settings and has worked as a sales representative and trainer in the hearing aid industry for AVR Sonovation. She provided academic and clinical instruction as assistant professor in the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences at the University of New Mexico, where she was recognized for teaching excellence. Dr. Parent-Buck has published in the areas of hearing aid technology and otoacoustic emissions. She has conducted numerous presentations on the Au.D. movement, otoacoustic emissions, pharmacology for audiologists, the use of web-based educational tools, and the use frequency compression as an alternative to wasted amplification.

Occupational Therapy
Bernadette Mineo, Ph.D., OTR/L,

Dr. Mineo has been an ATSU faculty member since 2005.  She has extensive clinical experience in the area of pediatrics and developmental disabilities.  She teaches in the area of professional development and the Capstone Project for the AMOT Program.  Dr. Mineo received her PhD in Media Ecology from the Department of Culture and Communications from New York University School of Education.  She received her Masters in Media Studies from the New School for Social Research, and a Bachelors of Science in Occupational Therapy from New York University.  She is currently a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association Professional Program Directors Educational Council.  Her research interests are in the area of teaching, on-line education, and positive psychology.

Physician Assistant
Michael Goodwin, PA

Michael Goodwin is Chair of the Department of Physician Assistant Studies at the Arizona School of Health Sciences. He is the founder and owner of Occupational Assessments and Services, an occupational medicine practice. Mr. Goodwin has been a practicing Arizona physician assistant since August 21, 1973. A former Air Force Viet Nam medic, Mike received his PA training at the United States Medical Center in Springfield Missouri and completed a physician’s occupational medicine residency at the University of Cincinnati. Mr. Goodwin is currently a two-term board member of the Arizona Regulatory Board of Physician Assistants. Married for 30 years, he and Mary have two children, Sarah and Ben.

Physical Therapy
Annlee Burch, PT, MPH, EdD

Dr. Annlee Burch is Chair of the Physical Therapy Department and Associate Professor in the Physical Therapy Department. She received her Masters in Physical Therapy degree in 1989 from Columbia University, her Masters in Public Health degree in 2000 from Columbia University and her Doctor of Education in 2005 from Teachers College, Columbia University.  Dr. Burch has 18 years of experience in Physical Therapy and joined the faculty as Chair and Associate Professor in 2008. Her research interest and experience is in multicultural competence of the health care provider and its effect on quality of care. She comes to A.T. Still University from the University of Puerto Rico, Medical Sciences Campus where she was Director of Physical Therapy and Associate Professor.
